Bread with History

Village Baker first opened its doors on January 20th, 1996 in Historic Downtown Flagstaff.  The bakery made a name for itself thanks to its stone-deck oven and hand made artisan style breads.

On January 20th, we celebrated our 21st anniversary! We have bread lovers who have become family. Those who attended our children’s baby showers. We have watched babies come into the bakery with their parents, and now visit when they are on college break. And too many wonderful stories to list. We are beyond blessed. Thank you! Thank you!

what people say about us

Many local restaurants use Village Baker bread and there is every reason why just as you open the door. The smell is wonderful. They do pan style for sandwiches, etc., but I love the big oval rustic loaves of crusty goodness. Yeah, I like bread. We just grabbed a oval loaf of sourdough and I was immediately trying to come up with excuses to eat bread. They also have amazing pastries, but you have to get there early to not miss out on what is available that day. We missed out on cinnamon rolls the day we were there. For the little ones, they have kitchen play sets in the seating area while you wait.

This is the best bread (and pastries) you will ever have.  They use old-world recipes, techniques and bake it all in an oven brought over from France.  This is decades of craft and care baked into every loaf.  The cranberry hazelnut IS the best. bread. EVER.  Do not under estimate this place.  I travel a lot to Arizona, and I am sure to go here whenever possible.  I send everyone I do business with here.

This place is what I wish my kitchen smelled like. Such great bread. And people!!!
The sourdough makes everything better. And if you want to get a little crazy, their cranberry hazelnut loaf will have you making up reasons to sneak into your bread box.
Me: "Oh I just checked the mail... should probably make toast."
Yeah, it's that big of a deal.

Wonderful breads and the lemon scones are amazing!
